Mini-rant: "Black herstory month"
No, that title isn't a typo. I attend a "Women's College," so the black student organization here, instead of having events for "Black History Month," celebrate Black herstory. Aw, how sweet!Oh, wait. Wait a second. YOU ARE ILLITERATE. You see, history : herstory : : hi : her. (For those of you who didn't take the SAT, history is to herstory as hi is to her.)
Last time I checked, "hi" and "his" were completely different words. Get it straight. My second-grade brain always associated history with "Hi, story!" And besides, even if the word originally came from "his story," is it really worth it to make yourself look like an idiot by misspelling a common word?
(Videoblogs will be coming later today or tomorrow.)

like the hair cut!!! i know it's alittle late, sorry.....
The purpose of higher education is to teach you poor spelling.
Do you think there will be an "Old white guy, who's afraid of change" history month?
Sorry I'm feeling naughty today.
Love your new profile pic!
Lol... hmm... does seem a bit odd.
I have a bit of an issue with the idea of a Black History "Month" at all.... This has been a topic of discussion at a few different BSU meetings on campus... and we all came to the same conclusion... Why the heck is there only one month!?! There are way more people to cover than are ever taught about during the one month allotted to black people in American history.
It'd be great if we could rewrite all the history books used in primary and secondary education...
Having a specific month doesn't bring anyone closer together... it just promotes the idea of "us" vs "them"... >.<
As far as I can see.... Black History Week, (then Month), along with things like Affirmative Action were set in place to be stepping stones not the end product.... but for some reason, they're still here.... it's still "us vs them".... it really blows.... *sigh*
Sorry, that's my mini-rant for the day... <,<
@nidan - hahaha... that was great!! ^o^
@Heather_Also - Thank you!!! All the girls say that to me!!!
@nidan - HAHA *groan*... "That's what she said!"
/facepalm... lol
lol this post definately made me laugh =P
Oh, like black people and women ever did anything important anyway.
WHITE MEN ISOLATIONIST PERSPECTIVES FTW
Wait, without black people we wouldn't have...the funk.
Never mind, carry on.
hahahaha 10/10.
Herstory... I HATE when people use that word. Don't they understand etymology? Idiots.
If they have a black history month, it's only fair that they have a white history month... a mexican history month.... a Chinese history month... a Japanese history month... a Native American history month... an Indian history month... wait, how about simply an "AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH"?
If we're going to use "herstory", then the spelling of "history" should really be "hisstory". But that makes it sound like Snake History Month or something.
Even proper English doesn't make sense sometimes. Why is something "fiery" when it's "on fire"? Shouldn't it be either "firey" or "on fier"?
lmao. that took me a bit to get.
Something to think about. Heh.
@QuantumStorm - That would make too much sense.
@Heather_Also - I agree 100%.
*lol* Great rant.
Herstory sounds like some other words that organization wouldn't want to be associated with.
LOL
I can't wait to get back into the eleven White History months. ; )
what about his/hers ?
but then, his tory would not make sense. neither does hers tory.
that is funny. when I read the title of the blog I wasn't sure what it would be about.
rain on their parade why don't ya
This is why I don't think of black history month as though blacks are the most important. I rather think about it as blacks unifying with other races and working together, not staying separate, and sharing their unique gifts and talents with each other, as all people should.
